Wolverine and the X-Men #1
I don't know much about the X-Men. So, I am sure I am providing an interesting perspective on this particular issue. My summing up of things will be very simple:::: Wolverine and Cyclops are no longer friends. While Cyclops leads one group of mutants, Wolverine will lead another. Our furry friend will reopen the school for mutants that we all no and love: Xavier Institute for Higher Learning (now the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning). That's not all you need to know--- but that's all I know. Even with the little information I know about the X-Men and their current predicament, I can tell you that this issue was great! I can't wait to read more! Wolverine in the position of Professor is a great idea! With Public Inspectors coming to witness if the school is fit to run, the issues storytelling is provided a great way to introduce characters and to witness the future antics of this group of mutants, as we walk through the school. The issue was light-hearted and kinda sweet. I can't wait to grab issue 2! 5.5/5
Agree 100%! I'm glad not the only fan of the new direction. As someone who has followed the X-Men restructuring, you basically nailed it as to what the title is about. Since Cyclops and Wolverine now have two separate running series, I was wondering if you had the chance to read issue 1 of Cyclops series? And how do you like marvel taking a more mature character like Wolverine and putting him in a semi-light hearted series?
ReplyDeleteThe Cyclops series was okay - I felt like it wasn't very welcoming to new readers for a brand new #1-ing. The ending villain and the giant robot thing at the end - I know nothing about, therefore I do not care --- and I only partially understand Cyclops motives. I love Wolverine. I recently read an older Generation Hope issue - he stopped a fellow mutant from murdering a human who forced a new mutant into suicide. Wolverine subtlety and kindly handled the situation. I think Wolverine has a better understanding of when to call for blood than most characters. -- even though his anger does occasionally get the best of him.
